Understanding why visitors do not buy or get in touch

We measure how people actually use your website and derive concrete changes from it. No assumptions, but decisions based on real behaviour.

What this is about

Most websites do not have a traffic problem, they have an understanding problem. You know how many people arrive, but not why they leave again.

See what users really do

Heatmaps, click paths and recorded sessions show where people hesitate, what they overlook and at which point they give up. That explains figures which otherwise only stand out.

Measurement you can rely on

We set up tracking, goals and events so that the figures are reliable and comply with data protection rules. Without a clean setup you are optimising against chance.

Change and measure again

The observations turn into concrete changes to copy, forms and the paths through the site. We measure the effect again instead of sticking with gut feel.

Clicks tell you little. Paths to a sale tell you everything.

Situations that typically bring clients to us

  • The site has visitors, but hardly any enquiries or orders.

  • It is unclear at which point in the buying process users drop out.

  • Changes to the website are decided by gut feel.

  • Tracking is in place, but nobody draws conclusions from it.

  • Measuring in line with data protection rules without losing meaningful data.

  • There are figures, but no explanation of what lies behind them.

  • None of this sounds like you?

What we actually do

Setting up tracking properly

We set up the measurement so that it fits your goals and handles consent cleanly. For our own analyses we rely on Matomo.

Making user behaviour visible

Heatmaps, click paths and session recordings show what users really do instead of what we assume.

Analysis with a clear recommendation

For CapTrader we have been analysing behaviour continuously since 2024 and give concrete monthly recommendations on UX, content and design.

Conversion optimisation

We work on the points where users drop out: forms, navigation, product pages and calls to action.

Prioritising changes

Not everything at once. We sort by expected effect and effort and implement in stages.

Reporting that gets read

Short, comprehensible analyses with a recommended action instead of a dashboard nobody opens.

How we work

  • 01

    Measure

Check the tracking or set it up again, so that the data is reliable in the first place.

  • 02

    Understand

Analyse behaviour and form hypotheses about why users drop out at certain points.

  • 03

    Improve

Implement concrete changes to content, design or the flow.

  • 04

    Measure again

Check the effect and set the next focus. Optimisation is a cycle, not a project.

Measure first, then change, then measure again. Tell us the page and the goal and we will tell you what we would look at first.

Frequently asked questions

Most sites do not have a traffic problem but an understanding problem: you know who arrives, not why they leave.

What is the point of web analytics if visitors are already coming?

Visitor numbers say nothing about why someone leaves again. Heatmaps, click paths and recorded sessions make visible where people hesitate, what they overlook and at which point they give up – in the form, in the navigation, at the shipping costs. These observations turn into concrete changes whose effect we measure again. For CapTrader we have been analysing behaviour continuously since 2024 and give monthly recommendations on UX, content and design.

Do you work with GA4 or Matomo?

With both. For our own analyses we rely on Matomo, because it allows privacy-friendly measurement; where GA4 is a given, we carry on working with it. What matters is not the tool but whether the events being recorded fit your business: an enquiry has to be counted as an enquiry, a purchase as a purchase, and each of them only once. Consent and data protection are part of that thinking.

Do you implement the changes as well?

Yes. Analysis without a change to the page or the ordering path remains an observation. We work exactly at the points where users drop out: forms, navigation, product pages, calls to action. We sort by expected effect and effort and implement in stages instead of changing everything at once – otherwise it is impossible to say afterwards what had the effect.

How long does a tracking review take?

First findings are usually available within a few days, because obvious errors such as double counting or missing events show up quickly. A clean implementation depends on how many systems are involved, how the consent solution is set up and how quickly your IT can deploy changes. We make that path transparent beforehand, so nobody is waiting for a result that is still stuck in an approval.

Plenty of visitors, too few conversions?

Tell us the page and the goal. We will tell you what we would look at first.
